20 Million Miles to Earth

During the return flight of the first manned mission to Venus, the spacecraft crashes into the Mediterranean Sea, near a small Italian fishing village, killing all aboard. Captain Colonel Calder, the mission leader, is saved by the townspeople, who are from the same town. Additionally, a small child discovers what appears to be a specimen of an extraterrestrial monster. It manages to escape and eventually poses a threat to the city of Rome, while growing at an incredible rate.
