As a Christmas custom, a wooden wishing box is placed in the park in the little town of Ponchatoula, Louisiana every December. Maddie encourages her sister Faith to make a wish in the box after a night out together - a wish to finally experience true love. Faith and Maddie are taken aback the next day when she meets Andrew, who is both handsome and suitable. Faith begins to question if Andrew is truly wonderful for her, or if the wish is guiding her to her best friend, Wyatt, as Christmas approaches.
