Afonya
Georgi Daneliya's 1975 film "Afonya" was an unexpected commercial success in the USSR. "Afonya" Borshev, the main character, is a plumber who spends his life partying with "buddies," many of whom he doesn't even remember after nights of heavy drinking. His wife abandons him, his boss places him on probation, and his entire life is falling apart around him, but he is unaware of it. Afonya met Katya at a dance club but paid her little attention. But she is the only one who can help him... Daneliya achieves a perfect balance of satire and drama in this film. Quotes from the film became cult in the USSR.
