Emmi Kurowski, a cleaning lady in her golden years, is feeling lonely. Her husband passed away several years ago, and her grown children provide little in the way of companionship. She visits to a bar frequented by Arab immigrants one night and develops up a connection with Ali, a middle-aged mechanic who works there. Their romance quickly progresses into something more, and Emmi's family and neighbors are critical of their hasty marriage to each other. Within a short period of time, Emmi and Ali are forced to confront their own fears about the future.
