American Revolution 2 starts with footage of protests at the 1968 Democratic Convention and how the Chicago Police Department and the National Guard responded with force. The filmmakers wanted to find out why there weren't any African Americans at the protests, so they followed members of the Chicago chapter of the Black Panther Party as they tried to find common ground with different white activist groups. In one scene, Bobby Lee of the Panthers and the Young Patriots, a group of white Appalachian activists who live in Chicago's Uptown neighborhood, get together to protest police brutality. Even though the groups are of different races, they have the same social and political goals. These goals are to stop police violence, poverty, unemployment, and bad living conditions. The movie's beautiful but unrealized dream is that there could be a political movement that brings together people of different races and cultures.
