Unsettling murders, with the victims invariably being couples, are presented in weird collage dioramas with cardboard cutouts and scrawled, childlike messages on the corrupting nature of love, in which the audience is invited to take part. The FBI is on the hunt for the assailant, who is believed to be a truck driver. Emery Reed is a long haul truck driver who has become disillusioned with the American Dream after an accident left his wife crippled and their son dead. After their car breaks down on a lonely road in the middle of nowhere, newlyweds Jeff and Krissy are having the time of their lives. Following a chaotic voyage that includes a collision with a despondent truck driver, everyone is left contemplating the true meaning of love and the American Dream.
