For her job as a school teacher, Anne goes to Charlottetown to take a lot of classes quickly. During her time at school outside of Green Gables, she has to quickly adapt to the new people and places around her. There are choices that Anne has to make about her future, feelings that she hasn't felt before, and tragedy that she hasn't seen in her whole life. On top of that, Matthew and Marilla Cuthbert have to deal with growing old and getting sick.
