This horrific World War II dramatizes the first salvos of the conflict in dramatic fashion. The Battle of Westerplatte, which began on September 1, 1939, marked the beginning of the Second World War in Europe and will forever be remembered as such. More than 200 Polish soldiers braved heavy German fire for a week, becoming a potent symbol of the will of the people to resist. As the fighting goes on, two Polish commanders are fighting over how to best lead their troops. In the midst of the carnage, they must decide: do they fight to the death or give up in the face of insurmountable odds? The battle against oppression is vividly depicted in the film.
