Beauty and the Bastard

A contemporary Finnish film about two extremely dissimilar young adults who, after a fortuitous encounter, make music together and fall in love. She aspires to be a singer, despite the fact that her parents have planned out her ideal career and life partner. She asks the young, grungy Hip Hop musician Sunen to assist her in creating a demo tape after meeting him by chance in the studio. Not only is the ensuing tale about gaining proximity despite differences and overcoming obstacles well-told, but it is also a compelling one. Additionally, the soundtrack is incredibly well-made. It seems unfathomable that this is the debut film of the director.
