Bound by Honor
The film is based on the true life experiences of poet Jimmy Santiago Baca and centers on half-brothers Paco and Cruz, as well as their bi-racial cousin Miklo. It begins in 1972, with the three members of an East Los Angeles gang known as the "Vatos Locos," and the story focuses on how a violent crime and the influence of narcotics change their lives. Miklo is imprisoned and transferred to San Quentin, where he creates a "home" for himself. Cruz develops into an exceptional artist, but a heroin addiction consumes him, with tragic consequences. Paco becomes a cop and an enemy of Miklo, his "carnal."
