The Emperor (Chang Chen) wants the free-spirited life of a wanderer and tries to escape from the royal palace with his sister, the Princess (Faye Wong). He is caught and taken back to his angry mother by the royal guards, but the Princess, who is dressed as a man, manages to get away. Meanwhile, King Bully (Tony Leung) has gone back to his hometown, where he is hated for being a bully, to run a restaurant with his tomboy sister, Phoenix (Vicki Zhao). They are very close friends. In fact, King Bully mistakenly thinks he can read his sister's mind. When the Princess comes to town, King Bully feels attracted to her. But since he thinks she's a man, he decides that his attraction is because he feels like Phoenix.
