Captain Jack Schitt, Chuck Steel's long-suffering supervisor, calls him "the best God damn cop on the force" in 1986. But even this maverick, renegade, loose cannon, lone wolf, cop on the edge, and rule-breaker has his job cut out when the Governor of LA reduces club and bar licensing hours, causing a sudden, unexplainable wave of high-profile disappearances in the city. A bloody crime scene with no victim is similar to all disappearances. The cops are baffled until one of the victims escapes. Chuck interviews the victim at the hospital and meets Abraham Van Rental, a deranged old man. He informs Chuck that the TRAMPIRES, a mutated vampire-tramp hybrid, will attack Los Angeles.
