Colewell
Residents of Colewell, Pennsylvania, gather at the post office for mail and gossip, and the days pass peacefully. That is, until word arrives that the office is closing, leaving loving clerk Nora (a wonderful Karen Allen) to battle for her job and reflect on the decisions she has made that have kept her in Colewell for so long. Tom Quinn's lyrical picture is a touching ode to small-town life and the gentle feelings that come with nostalgia and recollections of the past, with a hint of melancholy. "I don't want to be lonely," Nora says as she faces anxieties about her future and her history becomes more visible, but what that means is elusive. Colewell beautifully portrays rural America, while also allowing time to pass and pondering on what makes a life well lived.
