When Claire Darrow's new beau, District Attorney Miles Strasberg, introduces her to his younger half-sister, Phoebe, a simple offer of legal help becomes the biggest obstacle of her professional career. Phoebe, a singer who has recently finished her first album, is concerned that she may have signed away her rights to her ex-producer, who has threatened to burn the recordings. Police find enough evidence and reason to arrest Phoebe when the producer is found dead in his studio. Miles can't imagine entrusting his adored sibling's fate to anyone else, despite Claire's lack of experience with murder cases.
