Frankie, 9, and his single mother Lizzie have been moving around a lot since Frankie can remember. Most recently, they moved to a seaside town in Scotland, which is in the UK. Lizzie wants to keep her deaf son from knowing that they've run away from his father, so she's made up a story that he's at sea on the HMS Accra. Lizzie writes Frankie a fake letter from his father every few weeks, in which he talks about his adventures in new and exotic places. The ship is on its way to Frankie's home town as he tracks its progress around the world. In a few weeks, the real HMS Accra will be on its way. Lizzie must choose between telling Frankie the truth or finding the perfect stranger to play Frankie's father for just one day.
