The 24th of August 1944. In the hands of General von Choltitz, governor of Grand Paris, Hitler has ordered the destruction of Paris. For the general, who is from from a long line of Prussian soldiers, following instructions was second nature. The secret stairway leading to General von Choltitz's suite at the Hôtel Meurice had Raoul Nordling thinking about this. In preparation for their detonation, the Seine River bridges and several of Paris' most recognizable landmarks (the Louvre, Notre Dame, the Eiffel Tower, etc.) have been mined for explosives. Using every diplomatic tool at his disposal, the consul will make every effort to persuade the general to defy Hitler's orders and prevent the annihilation of Europe.
