It's all in the title. Ernest has given Rene a yo-yo made of stolen diamonds, which he gave to her as a surprise for their upcoming engagement. As a man of action, however, Ernest does not meet Rene's requirements. In order to recover the stolen diamonds, the bad guys capture Rene and Ernest is forced to journey to Africa to rescue her, fulfilling all of Rene's wildest dreams.
