Raoul Duke and his attorney Dr. Gonzo drive a red convertible over the Mojave desert to Las Vegas with a suitcase full of cocaine to cover a motorcycle race. As their drug use accelerates, the stoned couple trashes their hotel room and fears legal ramifications. Duke starts driving back to L.A., but after an unexpected run-in with a cop, he returns to Sin City and continues his wild drug binge.
