In the small town of Eden, Tennessee, an ignored and naive teenage girl called Clara Banks has made a routine of tricking individuals on the internet for gifts, a gambit referred to as "catfishing." She believes it's all fun and video games till she hooks the attention of the wrong person. A short time later, events set right into activity spiral unmanageable as someone starts tracking Clara and her buddies. As the repercussions of her activities go back to haunt her, turned messages start turning up at Clara's residence, triggering her to fear for her life. Will she ever really feel secure once more now that the wickedness has come knocking?
