Foreign Land
Alejandro Reis-Alex-'s life changes dramatically in a matter of seconds when he realizes he is not an American citizen. When he was only months old, his parents smuggled him across the Mexican border. By contrast, Flora Hendricks was born in Missouri. She makes the decision to flee her family. Alex is deported to Mexico from the United States. Flora is arrested for shoplifting on a seemingly adjacent track. And placed on the same bus with Alex for deportation. Alex and Flora quickly realize they are completely out of their depth as they arrive on Mexican land. They rapidly discover that Tijuana and the majority of other border cities are dangerous, warring criminal factions-infested areas.
