In this modern variation of the Rasputin story, David Hemmings plays a promising legislator, Nick Rast, whose young son is terminally ill with leukaemia. A mystical faith healer, Gregory Wolfe, shows up as well as appears to heal the boy. Rast's wife Sandy falls in love with Wolfe, yet the effective interests behind Rast's occupation, represented by geriatric beast Doc Wheelan are much less happy with events.
