I Am Slave
The story unfolds as twelve-year-old Malia, daughter of champion wrestler Bah, is kidnapped from her Sudanese village in the Nubar Mountains by pro-government Arab militia and sold into slavery to a woman in Khartoum who beats her for touching her daughter. She is transferred to London after six years, where her name is changed but her horrible life of servitude continues. Her passport is seized and she is informed that if she contacts the authorities, her father will perish. Fortunately, she encounters a kind individual who appears to offer her the possibility of escape and reunification with Bah in Sudan. Despite the film's positivity, the end title claims that there are around 5,000'slave' employees in the United Kingdom at the moment.
