Inside Deep Throat
"Deep Throat," a pornographic film featuring Linda Lovelace and shot in a Florida motel in1972, appeared to be a typical low-budget pornographic production. Everyone involved had no idea that this film would go beyond their wildest expectations and go on to become one of the most successful independent films of all time. In spite of the efforts of the self-appointed guardians of public morality to keep it under control, it captured the public imagination and captured the spirit of the times, and it created, for a brief moment, a possible future in which sexuality in film could be used to achieve great artistic achievements. This documentary tells the narrative of the making of this controversial picture, including its spectacular popularity, fanatical resistance, as well as the film's dark side, which includes allegations of mafia influence and mistreatment of the film's star on the sets.
