This is France in 1425. In the little French village of Domremy, 8-year-old Jeannette tends to her flock of sheep as the nearby conflict of the Hundred Years' War rages around her. She confides in her friend Hauviette one day about how the English are responsible for all the pain in the world. The nun Madame Gervaise tries to talk some sense into the little girl, but Jeannette is set on fighting for the good of souls and the freedom of the Kingdom of France. Belief in her mission propels her toward becoming Joan of Arc.
