The present day in Beijing. Wang Hai (Liang Chao), a criminal businessman, invites popular TV personality Da Peng (Da Peng) to produce a film in which he will finance. Du Xiaoxiao, a TV drama actress, is Da Peng's co-star, according to Wang (Yuan Shanshan). However, Da Peng is blackballed by a powerful internet executive (Charles Zhang) after a nightclub controversy involving him goes viral, and he is unable to attract any male co-stars. Wang is likewise looking for a return on his investment. Da Peng plans to make his own low-budget film based on a script he wrote about an alien named A Li who comes to Earth and goes on numerous superhero adventures.
