As a result of his cloned science fair project hatching prematurely, nerdy middle schooler Tommy is forced to care for a baby dinosaur. As time passes, he comes to regard the creature not only as a pet, but also as a companion. However, when the dinosaur escapes on the day of the fair, Tommy must devise a plan to bring the beast back before greedy adults seize the opportunity to do so.
