Kicking Off begins with the season's pivotal game. Wigsy and Cliff, two loyal supporters, watch in fear as their football team scores the game-winning goal to avoid relegation. As an ecstatic chorus of supporters chants and weeps, victory is ecstasy. However, this flurry of joy swiftly devolves into an ugly situation when the referee disallows the game-winning goal. With their hearts and fists thumping, adrenaline coursing, and rage pouring through their veins, the fans seize control of the situation, and Cliff makes the fatal error of planning while intoxicated. Wigsy, a certified moron, carries out the plan and commits a crime in the wee hours of the night that results in confusion and disaster for him and his best friend Cliff. Split-screen views and slow motion montages are used to great effect in Kicking Off. The characters are endearing thuggish goons who will have you both laughing and grimacing at their lack of common sense. The once-beautiful game has now devolved into an abomination.
