Lilya dreams of a better life, despite the fact that she lives in poverty. Her mother leaves her in the care of her aunt when she moves to the United States. Natasha and Volodya, two of Lilya's pals, are also suicidal. She begins working as a prostitute in order to earn money, and subsequently meets Andrei.
