Limite
Limite is Mário Peixoto's only feature film, created when he was 22 years old. Inspired by a haunting André Kertész photograph on a French magazine cover, this avant-garde silent masterpiece centers on a man and two women adrift at sea. Their pasts emerge through flashbacks propelled by Erik Satie, Claude Debussy, Igor Stravinsky, and others. Limite, an early independent South American film, was hard to watch for most of the century. Its visual poetry remains everlasting.
