When a gang of fur trappers and Indian traders return to civilization in the early 1800s, they are making a desperate attempt to beat the approaching winter with their products. Following a bear attack on guide Zachary Bass, the group determines that he is doomed and abandons him to die. Instead, when he regains consciousness, he vows vengeance on them and sets out to find them as well as their paranoid expedition commander.
