Myrtle Gordon is a working alcoholic actress who is just a few days away from the opening night of her latest play, about a woman who is depressed about her aging. One night, a car kills one of Myrtle's fans who is chasing her limousine in an attempt to get the star's attention. Myrtle internalizes the accident and embarks on a spiritual journey, but she is unable to find the answers she seeks. As opening night approaches, Myrtle must find a way to keep the show going.
