When Christine Dubois is a rising operatic soprano, pit violinist Claudin falls head over heels for her (as do Anatole and Raoul, the baritone and police inspector, respectively). Yet after a psychotic break in which he kills a rascally music publisher and has his face etched with acid, Claudin loses both his sense of touch and his job. It won't be long before crimes at the Paris Opera House are linked to a phantom of the stage.
