Q Ball
Across the Bay from the NBA champion Golden State Warriors is another Warriors team that only plays home games. Some of the best players on the San Quentin Prison team were ruined by felony convictions. The point of this eye-opening, inspiring documentary is to show how hard it is to get better. The main focus of Q Ball is on determined men who are trying to come to terms with the seriousness of their crimes and make amends. The film focuses on about-to-be-released star player Harry "ATL" Smith, who hasn't given up on his NBA dreams; Anthony "Ant" Ammons, a lifer who has become a mentor to younger inmates; and head coach Rafael Cuevas, a convicted murderer who knows his role in preparing his players for life on the outside. For all three men, the team isn't just a way to have fun; it's also a family.
