After a strange humiliation, Francis, a forty-year-old engineer, retreated to a town on Lake Iseo. The previous family villa, a spectacular Art Nouveau structure on the lake side, is now occupied by her little daughter. However, there is another unknown person in the enormous home, who only hears the echo of the respirator that keeps her alive. Other, more frightening, and perhaps more hazardous, presences wander about the villa. Where did the man and his family end up? What lies beneath the surface? Marta, his childhood friend who has always loved him, would she be able to wake Francis up from his coma and relieve him of his pain? Most importantly, how many people succeed in escaping the danger that threatens their life by gravitating around the house?
