Rize
A documentary film that focuses on two types of street dancing that originated in low socioeconomic communities of Los Angeles. These dance styles are known as Clowning and Krumping. David LaChapelle, the film's director, conducts interviews with each of the dance crews, asking them about the origins of their distinctive dancing styles. An innovative and constructive pastime that took them away from the drugs, firearms, and gangs that were prevalent in their neighborhood. A gritty film about the rise of a subculture movement in the United States.
