Christopher Cross, a cashier and part-time starving artist, is head over heels in love with the lovely Kitty March. Kitty plays along, but her true motivation is Johnny, a two-bit thief. When Kitty and Dan learn that art dealers are interested in Chris' work, they convince him to give them credit for the paintings. Cross permits it because he adores Kitty, but his adoration will only allow her to get away with so much.
