It appears that both Johan and Marianne have it all: a happy marriage and a prosperous life. Their contentment, on the other hand, is a ruse to conceal a strained relationship, which becomes much more rocky when Johan discloses that he is having an affair with another woman. They eventually separate and proceed to finalize their divorce, but they make several attempts to reconcile before calling off their marriage. Even as they explore other relationships, Johan and Marianne know that they have a strong link, but that they also have many challenges that are impeding their ability to stay together.
