When guitarist and singer Dewey Finn gets fired from his band and runs out of money, he sneaks into a position as a substitute teacher at a private school and begins teaching his kids the finer qualities of rock 'n' roll in secret. The strict principal of the school has good reason to be wary of Finn's antics. However, Finn's roommate is completely unaware of Finn's activities.
