A New York-based writer and his fiancée go to Los Angeles to adapt a children's book for a Hollywood producer. The author of the book, the director, and other actors begin a series of meetings, each with their own vision for the script's direction. The writer and his backer are perpetually at odds as the task becomes increasingly tedious and gory. Fearful that his prescription has rendered him mediocre, the writer must choose between a happy existence and a lucrative career as a Hollywood screenwriter.
