When it comes to women and cretins, nothing is ever quite as it seems, as Spud Milton discovers as he stumbles through adolescence. 'I'm virtually an adult,' Spud writes on the eve of his sixteenth birthday, cocky about his maturity. In1992, South Africa is on the cusp of a seismic shift. Spud Milton returns to boarding school as a senior, hoping for a comfortable ride on the rough road to an unknown future. It turns out his vengeful arch adversary is returned to tease him, and a garrulous Malawian has moved into his room with the other regulars and misfits he considers buddies.
