Paola (Lucia Bose) is the lovely and closely guarded younger wife of Enrico Fontana, a shady manufacturing owner (Massimo Girotti). He employs a private detective to look into her personal history, which ironically leads Paola back into contact with a former boyfriend, Guido, with whom she rekindles an old flame. They are drawn closer to each other in the face of adversity, and they begin to plot Enrico's demise, despite their respective mates' suspicions.
