In 16 years, five puppies found the Five Power Rings of Inspiron, which are alien artifacts that were left on Earth. All of the puppies now have super powers, and they join Captain Canine in his fight against the evil Darkon alien Commander Drex. Captain Canine is in charge of the spaceship Megasis. He is from the planet Inspiron and comes from a group of dogs. He is the enemy of the Commander Drex, and he will do anything to get rid of him. Megasis is in charge of protecting Princess Jorala and the Five Power Rings from Drex. Megasis hides the rings on Earth and takes the form of a German Shepherd so that he can stay hidden on Earth for a long time. Having been adopted by a young comic book artist named Ian Shaeffer, he spends 16 years living on Earth as Captain Canine. Ian tells the stories of his space adventures. But when the five Buddies find the Power Rings and start having superpowers right away, Captain Canine has to train them very quickly because Commander Drex is coming back to Earth, and this time he wants to win.
