Lucas Nickle, age10, is fed up with being picked on by the local bully, so he takes out his anger on the anthill that is located in the front yard of his house... until the ants use an enchanted elixir to reduce him to the size of a bug. Lucas was found guilty of committing "crimes against the colony," and the only way for him to reclaim his freedom is to live among the ants and learn their methods of doing things.
