After her husband dies, the mother of Julie, Jack, Sue, and Tom starts to get sick for no apparent reason. Knowing that she will have to go to the hospital, she opens a bank account for the kids so that they can take care of themselves financially and avoid being taken into care by the government. She, too, dies, and Julie and Jack, the older teens, decide to hide her body in the basement so they can run the house however they want. Soon, Tom started dressing up as a girl, while Sue became more shy and only told her diary what was going on. Meanwhile, Jack and Julie could feel their feelings for each other growing. But Julie's new boyfriend, Derek, is getting more and more suspicious of Jack, which makes it more likely that the family's dark secrets will come out.
