Vera Parks, an overly intense and demanding Broadway director, is fired from yet another job, leaving her with no choice but to direct a small town Christmas pageant in upstate New York. Vera is taken aback by how basic the production is and attempts to back out, but is persuaded by some of the locals to give their town a chance. Surprisingly, the warmth and charm of the small town grow on Vera, and she even enjoys the experience of directing the pageant. Vera is furious to learn that her ex-fiancé Jack recommended her for the job. Vera, on the other hand, grows to appreciate the gesture as she grows closer to both Jack and his young daughter. Will love wait in the wings this time?
