Exploring the dark and light sides of love, this film is equal parts tragic and comedic. Filmed on location in East Hampton, New York, A Widow for One Year is based on John Irving's best-selling novel about a famous children's book author named Ted Cole (Jeff Bridges) and his lovely wife Marion (Marisa Tomei) (Kim Basinger). An unfortunate turn of events has soured their once-fantastic marriage. A necessary shift in their relationship has been hindered because of her depression and his subsequent infidelity. An unintentional but eager pawn and trigger in the couple's alteration of their lives is Eddie O'Hare, Ted's summer helper.
