In Lille, two young ladies with no money and few opportunities form a friendship with one other. Isa moves in with Marie, who is now house watching for a mother and kid who are both in comas as a result of an automobile accident. Isa is friendly and naive, and she has aspirations of relocating to a location further south, where the weather will be warmer. In most situations, Marie's demeanor is either hostile or dispassionate. Then, as Isa continues to see the child in whose apartment they live, going to hospital to read to her, Marie begins to develop a slow attraction to a wealthy youth. Initially, Marie is successful in warding him off; later, however, she not only pursues him but also starts to dream that he is the love of her life. Isa's attempt to forewarn Marie causes their friendship to come to an end. How will Marie deal with what is inevitably going to happen? And once they are evicted from the apartment, where will they go?
