The Goob
A heat wave has hit Fenland, which is in the middle of England. The last 16 summers, Goob Taylor has helped his mom run the transportation cafe and harvest beets in the fields around the cafe. The thought of Goob comes up when Mom moves in with swarthy stock-car champ and ladies' man Gene Womack. Goob's world changes when Eva, an exotic beet picker, comes to pick the beets. Goob dreams of better things because she flirts with him.
