David, a former journalist for the New York Times, has a terrible experience when he and his weird new neighbor Robert unintentionally collide with a cyclist. In order to safeguard his career, David, inebriated and bewildered, allows Robert to persuade him to abandon the scene and leave the girl for dead. Robert demonstrates no remorse, and in the name of friendship, he commits horrific acts to safeguard the secret. David's local newspaper sends him to cover the story, where he meets the murdered girl's sister, Vanessa. At this point, the police are actively searching for the hit-and-run driver.
