Nina, a 15-year-old girl, sees a horrific incident that puts her life in jeopardy. Because she is an orphan, she has no one in whom she can place her trust. As witness protection officer Nina is being pursued by five assassins sent by crooked tycoon Thomas Backer, Max, a former special-forces soldier, is put in charge of ensuring her safety. They quickly overcome their early differences and come to terms on a similar basis. While on the run from the merciless Backer, Rudi, a former comrade of Max's, comes to their aid – and continues to do so even when the two find themselves in more hazardous circumstances. Even Max's ex-girlfriend Sara isn't just there to lend a hand because she works as a federal prosecutor on his case. Nina and Max, on the other hand, are constantly in danger, and it soon becomes clear that the teenager is not the only one in need of a guardian angel — Max could stand to benefit from one as well.
